Porsche Macan vs. Porsche Cayenne

The Porsche Macan or the Porsche Cayenne - Which World-Class SUV is Right for You?

When you're shopping around for the world's most powerful, performance-tuned, luxury SUVs, there's one clear brand name that comes out on top every time - Porsche. At Paul Miller Porsche, we're always proud to bring New Jersey drivers from Parsippany to Millburn the full range of legendary Porsche models, including their incredible SUV lineup.

Porsche designed, engineered, and built vehicles are renowned around the globe for their prowess, unmatched quality, and thrills behind the wheel. Makers of some of the world's most beloved sportscars for decades, our favorite carmaker recognized the popularity of SUVs and crossovers more than 15 years ago, and they've been giving us an amazing lineup of choices ever since.

The Porsche Macan and the Porsche Cayenne are two of the best SUVs out there on the streets of Morristown and Bridgewater, NJ. If you've settled on investing in the one-of-a-kind drive you can only get from Porsche, but you're not exactly sure which of these stellar crossovers is right for you, we can help. We've compared our two favorite models side by side for you, to help you make the right decision for your lifestyle and family.

The Porsche Macan vs. the Porsche Cayenne - Size Differences

Both of these high-end SUVs have four doors, two rows of seating, and a passenger capacity of five people. But, the Macan is considered a compact crossover, while the Cayenne is mid-sized. This means the Cayenne measures overall larger than the Macan, with the Cayenne coming in nearly ten inches longer, three inches taller, and three inches wider. Choosing between the two when it comes to size depends on your personal preferences, and how much cargo you typically tote with you.

Interior space

While they're both designed with your utmost care and comfort in mind, and both have spacious interior dimensions, the Cayenne is, again, larger than the Macan. Extra inches on the outside translates to extra inches on the inside for you, and your passengers. Look for a little more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room in the Cayenne over the Macan.

Cargo Space

When it comes to transporting suitcases, groceries, or sporting equipment, both Porsche SUVs are more than up to the task. However, once again, the size difference between the two comes into play here. The Cayenne cargo hold can accommodate more than 27 cubic feet, while the Macan holds 17.7 cubic feet.

The Porsche Macan vs. the Porsche Cayenne - Power and Performance Differences

It goes without saying, of course, that, as two models from legendary Porsche, both of these SUVs offer more oomph and power than your typical SUV.

Engine Options and Power

The Porsche Cayenne comes in your choice of four trim levels, each with its own engine. These range from a 335-horsepower V6 for the base model, to a 541-horsepower V8 for the top trim. The Porsche Macan, on the other hand, offers five exciting engine and trim combos, starting with a 252-horsepower four-cylinder, and going up to a 440-horsepower V6.

Performance and Utility

Due to differences in engines, both of these SUVs have different maximum towing capacities. But, both are wonderful when it comes to hauling along a family camper or boat. The Macan towing capacity is around 4,400 pounds, and the Cayenne tops out around 7,700 pounds.

Hybrid Power and Efficiency

If it's a hybrid SUV you're in the market for, unfortunately there is only one Porsche option - the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid model. While the Macan isn't available with a hybrid powertrain, it's still plenty efficient to keep drivers happy, with an EPA-rated 22 mpg combined for the four-cylinder base engine.
